The St. Johnsbury School is seeking applicants for paraeducators with and without Registered Behavior Technician Certification to work with students across grade levels.

 

 

The successful candidates will have experience working with and building relationships with students.  A willingness to work on teams of professionals (including classroom teachers, special educators, physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech language pathologist, behavior specialist, etc.) and with other paraeducators and the ability to follow behavior and academic plans is important.  Hours are typically 7:30-2:30 or 7:45-2:45 daily with personal, sick, emergency, and bereavement leave time per a master agreement.  Paraeducators and RBTs must have at minimum of an Associate's Degree, 48 hours of undergraduate credits, or have passed the ParaPro test or an equivalent basic skills assessment.  An assessment must be completed prior to starting work if you do not have a degree or 48 credits and can be scheduled with the St. Johnsbury School District.

 

Additionally, RBT responsibilities include:  supports and implements a student’s behavior support plan created by a board-certified behavior analyst or a Behavior Specialist in consultation with the BCBA. They provide ABA interventions that encourage socially acceptable replacement behaviors so students can build and improve upon their communication, social interaction, and problem-solving skills.

RBT Pathway responsibilities (a stipend of $3000 beyond hourly wage):

You have one year to complete the RBT training, supervision, exam and become a licensed RBT. If there are extenuating circumstances that will not allow you to complete this process in 1 year, you must communicate with the BCBA and Principal well in advance.
